Bighorns Blow Past Skyforce

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. —- The Reno Bighorns (16-26) defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce (26-19) Wednesday night at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Reggie Hearn and Will Davis led the Bighorns with 30 points and eight rebounds each while Isaiah Cousins followed them closely notching 28 points and eight rebounds. Kendall Marshall recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Bubu Palo paced the Skyforce scoring 17 points, grabbing four rebounds and adding four assists while Patrick Miller added 17 points, three rebounds and three assists for the Skyforce.
The teams kept the score close the opening the first frame tying four times and alternating the lead four times by the 6:00 mark. The teams knotted up the score at 16 at the mid-way point before the Bighorns went on a 14-3 run to take an 11 point lead with 2:27 to play. The Bighorns held a six point advantage over the Skyforce entering the second frame.
The Bighorns held the upper hand on Sioux falls until the Skyforce went on an 11-2 run to tie the game at 47 at the 8:00 mark. The Bighorns responded with a 12-2 run triggered by a three from Hearn to retake a 10 point advantage lead at the mid way point of the second quarter. Sioux Falls rallied to tie the score at 71 with a minute left in the frame.
A last second three from Jabril Trawick would give the Skyforce a three point lead going into the locker room at the half.
Sioux Falls kept the Bighorns at bay the majority of the third quarter until Cousins made a lay-up to tie the game with 3:23 left in the quarter. Hearn hit a triple to take a 92-89 lead before the Bighorns opened their lead to eight heading into the final frame with a 101-93 lead.
The Skyforce chipped away at the Bighorns lead, coming within four points by the 10:00 mark. The Bighorns had a double digit advantage at the mid way point before going on a 18-4 run opening their lead to 24 with less than an minute in play. Despite a three from Ike Nwamu, the Bighorns would not relinquish the lead to secure a 134-115 victory over the Skyforce. Davis scored 13 of his 30 points in the final frame.
The Bighorns will next travel to Oklahoma to take on the Oklahoma City Blue on Saturday, Mar. 18 at 5 p.m.
